New Zealand’s most valued player Scott Styris has been signed by English County Durham as its second overseas player. Styris is on a short term contract only because of his international commitments. The middle order batsman will be playing for Durham till August.

The 31-year-old Scott Styris had his taste of playing in the English County when he had played for Middlesex in the last two seasons. He was also the Captain of Middlesex last season. The batting all rounder has played 27 Tests and 133 ODIs for New Zealand ever since making his debut in 1999. Styris has been a reliable middle order batsman who can bowl effective medium pace with plenty of variations. Styris will be spending around two months with Durham in which he will be playing mostly Twenty20 games. Styris’ contract with Durham is going to start from June 1st according to a New Zealand Cricket Statement. Durham’s Coach Geoff Cook has stated to the media that Styris is a top player who will undoubtedly be a great asset to the club and also that he put in some great performances in the World Cup and was sure he?ll be a great contributor to the team.
