Canada put up a brave show of 261 for 9 in reply to New Zealand’s huge total of 358 for 6. Asked to bat first after losing the toss, the Kiwis got to the big total thanks to two cracking knocks from Brendon McCullum (101 from 109 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes) and Skipper Ross Taylor (74 from 44 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes).

Canada got to a respectable total in the second half with Skipper Ashish Bagai scoring 84 from 87 balls (with 10 fours) and Jimmy Hansara making 70 from 105 balls (with 4 fours and a six).

Jacob Oram was the most successful bowler for the Kiwis taking 3 for 47 in his 10 overs. The Man of the Match award went to Brendon McCullum.
