New Zealand who were ordinary against Australia in their last match found their rhythm going with a thrashing 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe in yesterday’s Group A Match at Ahmedabad. Zimbabwe batting first after winning the toss were bowled out for a below par 162 in 46.2 overs at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera.

Barring from opener Brendan Taylor, who made 44 from 57 balls and Prosper Utseya, who made a slow 36 from 65 balls, none of the Zimbabwean batsmen could stand against the Kiwi attack. It was going to be a one-sided match once Zimbabwe were destructed at 46 for 5! Tim Southee was the most successful bowler for the Kiwis taking three while Mills and Vettori got two each.

The modest target was chased down by the Kiwis in 33.3 overs by the two openers – Martin Guptill (86* from 108 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes) and Brendon McCullum (76* from 95 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes). Guptill got the Man of the Match.
