Middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq has arrived in New Zealand today to join the Pakistan Test Squad. The visitors had lost their regular Captain – Younis Khan just prior to the tour and since then had not named any replacement and the captaincy was handed over to Mohammad Yousuf.

Misbah has been drafted in after a poor show from the Pakistani batsmen in the Dunedin Test with the exception of debutant Umar Akmal. The 35-year-old Misbah will be walking into the team for the second Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The likely player to be axed is Imran Farhat who not only failed with the bat twice but had also put down a few slip catches.
