The second day’s play of the Dunedin Test saw just the 36 overs of action because of rain and bad light. New Zealand consolidated its position from an overnight position of 276 for 6 to 404 for 8 in the curtailed second day’s play. The overnight pair of Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori stretched their 7th wicket partnership to 164. McCullum scored 78 with 12 fours while Vettori was unlucky to get out on 99 (with 14 fours). Both of them were dismissed by Umar Gul.
