Dale Steyn took four out of the seven New Zealand wickets that fell in just 34 overs on the fourth day to wrap up a big win of 358 runs for the Proteas. Steyn finished with a 10-wicket haul, to be precise with superb match figures of 10 for 93 bowling just the 31.3 overs. He was the Man of the Match for his deadly spells of fast bowling that finished New Zealand in just a little over three days.

Resuming at 57 for 3, the Kiwis got bowled out for 172 with their second innings lasting only 51 overs. Interestingly it was Daniel Vettori ending up as the highest scorer with 46 not out in 58 balls with 5 fours. Jacob Oram had scored 40 from 83 with 5 fours to figure in a partnership of 45 with Vettori which was the only resistance coming in from the visitors.
