All rounder Hafeez helps Pak beat Canada

Mohammad Hafeez showed his all round abilities in Pakistan’s warm-up match against Canada at St Augustine. Hafeez scored an attractive half century when Pak were put into bat first and then in the second half rolled his arm to capture three wickets. Pakistan won by 77 runs with Canada’s innings lasting for 46.4 overs.

Pakistan had posted 273 for 8 in their allotted 48 overs. Two overs were deducted in each innings because of the delay caused in the fall of the sight screen due to wind. Skipper Inzamam and wicket keeper batsman – Kamran Akmal had also notched up half centuries. What was surprising to note was the opening combination used by Pakistan which consisted of Imran Nazir (26) and Younis Khan (11). For Canada, Qaiser Ali of Rawalpindi origin top scored with 37 while Ashif Mulla made 31. Skipper John Davison who is the most popular Canadian player could score only 6. Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Mohammad Hafeez were the most successful bowlers with three wickets each.
