Australia winning the toss and batting first piled up 305 for 3 on the Boxing Day of the first Test at Melbourne against Pakistan. The only disappointment for the hosts was the openers Shane Watson (93) and Simon Katich (98) missing their respective centuries narrowly. Skipper Ricky Ponting chipped in with 57 before edging Asif to the slips. At Stumps, the Aussies have Michael Hussey on 37 along with night watchman Hauritz (5*).
