Debutant Zulqarnain Haider takes Test into Day 4

Pakistan after a disastrous batting show in their first innings have come up with a spirited performance in their second essay at 291 for 9. They have kept the England players on the field for as many as 116 overs to take the match into the fourth day.

Debutant Wicket Keeper – Zulqarnain Haider scored a fighting 88 from 200 balls (with 15 fours) in the company of Saeed Ajmal who scored a career best score of 50 (from 79 balls with 6 fours). Pakistan at one stage had lost it at 101 for 6 before the entry of Zulqarnain Haider into the middle. For England, Graeme Swann who didn’t get to bowl a single ball in the first innings captured six wickets.

The Pakistanis have avoided the innings defeat and are now in a lead of 112 runs with one wicket in hand.
