Alastair Cook The OvalEngland were dangerously placed at 221 for 9 in 76.2 overs when bad light forced an early end to the third day’s play at The Oval. The overall lead for the hosts is just 145 runs and their only hope to stretch it further is Stuart Broad who is batting along with Steven Finn.

It was a fluctuating third day’s play, first with England fighting back in their second innings through a brilliant century from Alastair Cook (110 from 173 balls with 17 fours) but then lost its way completely in the final session to lose six wickets for the addition of just 26 runs!

Mohammad Amir and Saeed Ajmal rocked the hosts with four wickets each with some terrific bowling. Pakistan are now in the driver’s seat and all they need is one good partnership to guide them to a second test match victory under their new skipper Salman Butt.
