England have pulled off a sensational victory in their tour game. Beginning the third and the final day at 39/6, England added up useful runs to end up at 112 giving a target of 158 to the Patrons. Trescothick who came in at No.9 scored a useful 38*. Medium pacer Yasir Arafat went onto pick up 5 wickets. Patrons were the favourites chasing a low total but a spirited bowling show from the visitors led by Ashley Giles saw them pull off a 52 runs win. Ashley Giles and Liam Plunkett picked four wickets each. Patrons who had the ideal start to their chase with a 50 runs opening stand folded at 105 all out.

England are in an embarrassing position at 39/6 in their 2nd innings with just a lead of 84 runs. With one full day left in this 3-day match between England XI and Patron’s XI at Rawalpindi, the remaining England batsmen need to work really hard to save this match. England XI had declared its first innings at the overnight score of 256/9 and then went on to bowl out the home side for 211 in just over 60 overs. The English bowlers almost got a big lead for their side but for the annoying 10th wicket stand of 61 that minimized the lead to 45 runs. For the visitors, medium pacers Anderson, Plunkett and off spinner Shaun Udal took three wickets each. England XI’s second innings was disastrous to say the least as they ended up at 39/6 in 14 overs of play. Medium pacer Mohammad Irshad created havoc by picking up 3 wickets and was well supported by Najaf and Yasir Arafat. One of Irshad’s wickets was that of Michael Vaughan as he dismissed the English Captain lbw for a duck. At stumps on Day 2, Paul Collingwood and Ian Bell are the not out batsman for the visitors.
