Eoin Morgan CardiffEngland tottering along at 62 for 5 in a chase of 127 sensationally recovered to clinch the first T20I at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff by five wickets. That was through a brilliant rescue act of an unbroken 67-run stand for the sixth wicket between the two left handed Eoin Morgan (38* from 24 balls with 6 fours) and Michael Yardy (35* from 26 balls with 4 fours) which saw England home with 17 balls to spare.

Earlier in the evening, Pakistan put to bat first under overcast conditions crawled to reach 126 for 4 with the ball just not coming onto the bat at all. Umar Akmal top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 35 from 30 balls. The entire innings had just 8 fours and no sixes at all! Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy, the two spinners got the ball to turn square to make life difficult for the young Pakistani batting line-up.

Michael Yardy was the Man of the Match for not only scoring the crucial 35* but for also a tight bowling spell of 4-0-21-1.
