Openers set up victory for Pak over Tigers

Salman ButtPakistan won their Group A Match against Bangladesh defeating them by 21 runs at the Beausejour Stadium. Salman Butt was the hero of the match playing a refreshingly attacking innings to score 73 from just 46 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. His opening partner – Kamran Akmal for a change took the backseat scoring 73 in 55 balls with 8 fours and a six. The two openers put on a solid 142 for the first wicket which helped Pakistan reach a comfortable of 172 for 3 having won the toss.

Bangladesh in their chase lost the key wicket of Tamim Iqbal early but were being brought back on track by the 91-run stand between Mohammad Ashraful (65 from 49 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes) and Skipper Shakib Al Hasan (47 from 31 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes). However, they could not sustain the firepower right till the end and the Tigers closed their innings at 151 for 7.

The Pakistani attack was sharp with Aamer taking 2 for 16 in 4 overs and Sami coming up with 3 for 29.
