Pak take handsome lead to hold onto advantage

Pakistan after bowling Australia cheaply for 127 on the first day’s play finished at 331 for 9 at Stumps on Day 2. The visitors have picked up a handsome lead of 204 runs and now its upto the Aussies to fightback in this Second Test at Sydney with three full days in store.

The Aussies took wickets at regular intervals but not before the two Pakistani openers – Imran Farhat (53 from 140 balls) and Salman Butt (71 from 164 balls) had laid the foundation. There were also useful knocks played by Mohammad Yousuf (46) and Umar Akmal (49) which pushed the lead forward for Pakistan.

Doug Bollinger did the damage for Australia taking three wickets. Johnson and Watson took a couple of wickets each. Australia’s only chance of coming back in this match is by having a solid batting day tomorrow.
