Ricky Ponting HobartAustralia have recovered superbly from a position of 71 for 3 to 302 for 3 at Stumps on Day 1 of the third and final Test at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Ricky Ponting (137 not out from 240 balls with 17 fours) and Michael Clarke (111 not out from 223 balls with 11 fours) are into a massive unbroken partnership of 231.

The hosts had won the toss early on and stuck with the same team that had won the second Test at Sydney except for Simon Katich returning back in the place of Philip Hughes. Pakistan brought in plenty of changes which included that of Sarfraz Ahmed who grabbed the wicket keeping gloves from an under performing Kamran Akmal. Former Captain Shoaib Malik was brought back into the team in the place of Misbah-ul-Haq.
