Pakistan have lost all the advantage of having Australia on the mat on Day 1 as their batting crumbled to yield a significant 105-run lead in the 1st Test at Lord’s. After bowling out Australia for 253, Pakistan crashed to 148 all out in just 40.5 overs with only opener Salman Butt (63 from 94 balls with 12 fours) showing any resistance. Medium pacer Shane Watson swung the ball in and out to capture a career best of 5 for 40 in just 7.5 overs.

In their second innings, Australia have been rattled at 100 for 4 but their overall lead is already 205 which is more than what Pakistan had scored in their first innings. Simon Katich is doing well for them again on an unbeaten 49 in the company of night watchman Mitchell Johnson.
