White steers Aussies to 5-wkt win in first ODI

Cameron White BrisbaneAustralia won the first ODI against Pakistan at Gabba chasing a competitive target of 275. From a shaky position of 84 for 3, Australia got to the target with 9 balls to spare and losing only two more wickets. Cameron White was the star performer smashing 105 from just 88 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Man of the Match – Cameron White was assisted in a partnership of 102 by Michael Clarke (58) and then another stand with Michael Hussey (35*) that almost sealed the match.

Pakistan had earlier put on a good batting show for the first time on this tour. Opener Salman Butt was the architect of the innings with 72 from 81 balls with 12 fours. Shahid Afridi played a beautiful cameo of 48 from 26 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Shane Watson bowled well for his team taking 4 for 36 in 10 overs while Clint McKay picked up 3 for 61 as Pakistan got bowled out for 274.
