Younis replaces Malik as Pak Captain

Related Links : Younis Khan | Shoaib Malik

Younis Khan has been appointed as the Pakistan Captain in all forms of the game after the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to axe Shoaib Malik from that role. The 31-year-old Younis Khan had previously turned down captaincy twice and now it remains to be seen whether he will last long enough in this new role as the Pakistan Captain. The Board has been upset by the team’s embarrassing performance in the last two games against Sri Lanka, especially the third ODI in which Pak was bundled out for just 75!

The 26-year-old Shoaib Malik might now find it difficult to keep his place in the side now that he is no longer the Captain. He might find it tough to find a place in the Test Squad in particular. On the other hand, Younis Khan is the best batsman that Pakistan have got in the absence of Mohammad Yousuf who is now with the Indian Cricket League. Younis had previously served as an Acting Captain in both Tests and One Dayers whenever it was required and had shown what a cool customer he was and also showed that he was a proactive captain. Younis’s first challenge will be the upcoming 2-Test Series at home against Sri Lanka.
