Pakistan had to work very hard early on during the fourth day’s play with just the wicket of Ashwell Prince falling in the entire morning session. Prince got a stubborn 45 to feature in an 88-run stand with Kallis. Although Abdur Rehman and Danish Kaneria looked dangerous to handle, Kallis was still able to form the vital partnerships first with Boucher and then Andre Nel. SA declared its second innings after Kallis had got to his magical figure with the total at 264 for 7 in 89 overs leaving a target of 424 for Pakistan. Abdul Rehman continued to have a great match and in this innings took 4 for 105 in 38 overs, which made his Debut a highly productive one with a match haul of 8 for 210. Kaneria was the only other wicket taker for Pakistan in the second innings with 3 for 85 in 28 overs.

Pakistan simply got off to a disastrous start losing its two openers – Mohammad Hafeez and Salman Butt inside six overs to the pacy Dale Steyn. However, the fortunes tilted towards Pakistan with Younis Khan combining with Faisal Iqbal to put on a stroke filled partnership. Paul Harris was successful in cutting short this threatening third wicket partnership to 114. Faisal Iqbal made 44 in 69 with 8 hits to the fence. Younis Khan survived the last few overs of the day’s play to remain unfinished on 93 in 99 balls with 14 fours and six.
