Sami called up; Afridi is out with injury |
Feb 14, 2006
Pakistan
have faced a dent ahead of the 4th ODI at Multan
as they lost Shahid Afridi due to a rib injury.
Afridi was in pain all the while during the 3rd
ODI with a strap around his rib cage area. He
was in pain while batting and also had struggled
during his three overs spell where he couldn't
put much of his body into his deliveries. The
homeside had already lost Shoaib Akhtar and the
Selectors have called up Mohammad Sami for the
last two One Dayers. Pakistan are in a do-or-die
situation on Thursday as they have to win the
Multan match to have any chance of winning the
Hutch Cup.
Speedster
Mohammad Sami played in the 1st Test at Lahore
and was wicketless in the 12 overs he had bowled
and was subsequently dropped. Pakistan's bowling
has come under severe scrutiny except to
Mohammad Asif who had stood up well in all the
three matches. Rana Naved has failed to live
upto the expectations in the series. Although he
came back strongly in the death stages of the
Indian innings at Peshawar, Rana Naved has been
an utter disappointment overall. Pakistan would
now look upto Mohammad Sami to deliver the goods
with his express pace yorkers during the middle
stages of the Indian innings and provide good
support to Mohammad Asif.
