Pakistan loses
its two main weapons for the WC |
March 01, 2007
Pakistan
has lost Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif due to
injuries. The news of this comes just before the
departure of the Pakistan World Cup Squad to the
Caribbean on Thursday.
With the withdrawal of Akhtar
and Asif, opportunities have come to fast
bowler, Mohammad Sami and all rounder, Yasir
Arafat. Shoaib Akhtar is suffering from a knee
and a hamstring injury while Mohammad Asif is
having an elbow problem that had kept him out of
the test series against England. Both these
bowlers who had their drug bans lifted by the
PCB were due for doping tests before they left
for the West Indies. But it is injury that has
now saved them from testing positive for
Nandrolone.
Pakistan team has been weakened
by the absence of Akhtar and Asif which has been
clearly admitted by Inzamam and Bob Woolmer. All
rounder Abdul Razzaq was ruled out a couple of
days back due to an ankle injury. Click here to
