Brett Lee has bowled Australia to an innings victory on a rain affected fifth day at the Gabba. Ending the match with 8 for 112, Lee got the Man of the Match. Sri Lanka were bowled out for exactly 300 in their second innings with their innings lasting 99.2 overs.

Sri Lanka started the day with still five wickets in hand but they had to cope up with the second new ball. By the end of the morning session, they were almost at the brink of defeat despite two rain breaks. After lunch it was matter of just the few minutes before the Test Match came to an end. Sri Lanka’s only real resistance came from Chamara Silva, the overnight batsman who made 43 from 63 balls with 5 fours. Lee had taken three out of the five wickets that fell on the final day’s play to finish with 4 for 86 in 27 overs. The support came from the other two fast bowlers – Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark who picked up a couple of wickets each. Symonds and MacGill took a wicket each as well.
