Sri Lanka won their must-win match against Zimbabwe to enter into the Super Eights. It was a rain disrupted match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana but there was enough play to witness a sublime century from Mahela Jayawardene. Sri Lanka were lucky to get in the necessary five overs in the Zimbawean innings for a result.
Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 173 for 7 with Mahela Jayawardene coming up with a maiden T20I century. His knock of 100 came in 64 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes.
Zimbabwe needed to have 44 runs on the board in five overs but could come up with only 29 for 1. Sri Lanka were declared winners by 14 runs according to the Duckworth/Lewis Method.
