A strong opening partnership of 151 between Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Farhat laid the foundation for a 21-run win for Pakistan in the 3rd ODI at Dubai against Sri Lanka. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 257 for 8. Mohammad Hafeez top scored in the innings with 83 (from 101 balls with 9 fours and a six). His fellow opener Imran Farhat got 70 from 82 balls with 6 fours and a six.
Sri Lanka in their run chase got a solid foundation with the second wicket pair of Skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan (64 from 78 balls with 8 fours) and Kumar Sangakkara (45 from 66 balls) putting up a 106-run partnership. The middle order failed to complement this pair though and Sri Lanka in the end were bowled out for 236 in 48.5 overs. Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal wrecked the Lankan batting line-up taking three wickets each.
Mohammad Hafeez apart from scoring 83 bowled superbly taking 1 for 29 in 7 overs to grab the Man of the Match award.
