Sri Lanka cruise into Semis with 10-wkt win over England

Tillakaratne Dilshan ColomboHosts Sri Lanka as expected defeated England in their Quarter-Finals which was played yesterday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Chasing a modest target of 230, SL eased to victory without losing a single wicket with 63 balls to spare as openers Tillakaratne Dilshan (108* from 115 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes) and Upul Tharanga (102* from 122 balls with 12 fours and a six) cracked unbeaten centuries.

In the afternoon, England had won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing its openers without much on the board, England went through a shell to progress slowly to 95 for 3 in 27 overs. Jonathan Trott played the anchor in the innings scoring a relatively slow 86 from 115 balls with the help of only two fours. Eoin Morgan who scored 50 from 55 balls with 4 fours provided some sort of momentu in the English innings. Sri Lanka played some poor cricket as they dropped three simple catches to let Morgan get off the hook.
