Sachin Tendulkar looked all set to get to a century but was dismissed for 74 courtesy of a reflex catch from Darren Sammy holding onto an edged late cut from the Master. Thousands of spectators were heart broken as Sachin Tendulkar missed out in notching up a hundred in his last appearance for India. By the close of play on Day 2, it is quite clear that India will not bat again in this Test match, and it is the last time that one has seen Sachin Tendulkar bat in international cricket!

West Indies are staring at another innings defeat at 43 for 3 having conceded a huge first innings lead of 313 runs. The day started with Sachin Tendulkar looking to play shots freely having resumed his innings on 38*. The Master got out to Shane Shillingford after batting out for 118 balls and striking a dozen fours in his farewell knock.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma slammed tons to consolidate India’s position in the Test match. Pujara was lucky to get to his 5th Test century thanks to an Umpiring Error which gave him not out despite getting cleanly caught at shortleg. The 25-year-old finished with 113 to his name in 167 balls with 12 fours. Virat Kohli boosted the total with a busy 57 from 78 balls before leaving the stage to the equally talented Rohit Sharma.

The highlight of the day was the way Rohit Sharma got to his second consecutive century in only the second Test of his career. The 26-year-old put on 80 runs for the last wicket with Mohammed Shami, who contributed only 11 of those runs. So the last wicket stand was all about Rohit smartly taking most of the strike and making most of it with calculated big hits and timely singles. Rohit remained unbeaten on 111 from just 127 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes. India was bowled out for 495 in 108 overs. Off-spinner Shane Shillingford toiled hard to take 5 for 179 in 43 overs.

West Indies have already lost three wickets in just 12.2 overs by the close. R Ashwin took the wickets of Kieran Powell and Darreen Bravo while Pragyan Ojha got rid of the night watchman Tino Best. Chris Gayle has survived the brief period with an unbeaten 6.
