Rohit Sharma is all set to make his Test Debut against the West Indies after he was named in the 15-man squad to face the tourists in a 2-match Series. The 26-year-old is atlast showing his true potential at the international level and his wonderful knocks in the ongoing ODI Series against the Aussies have got the Selectors to reward him with a Test berth. Rohit is likely to walk into the XI in the place of Ajinkya Rahane.

The Selectors ignored the senior four in Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan. Mohammad Shami like Rohit seems to have impressed the Selectors with his ODI show and as a result has been rewarded with a Test spot. Express fast Umesh Yadav makes a comeback in the team after an injury.

India will miss the services of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who has been rested because of a shoulder strain. This could be a big blow for India as Jadeja’s arm balls were the crucial weapons for them in the last home series against the Aussies. With Jadeja out, Pragyan Ojha, the more conventional left-arm spinner will get his place back in the Test team. India has two more frontline spinners in R Ashwin and Amit Mishra.

The two Tests will be played at Kolkata and Mumbai and are mainly scheduled to give Sachin Tendulkar a fitting farewell in front of the home crowds.
