Australia trounce Windies in First ODI

Shane Watson MelbourneAustralia kept their winning streak intact by trashing West Indies by 113 runs in the first ODI at Melbourne. After getting restricted to 256 for 8, Australia bowled out West Indies for just 143 with Ryan Harris and Nathan Hauritz taking three wickets each. Doug Bollinger took two top order wickets including that of Chris Gayle.

None of the West Indian batsman scored a fifty in the chase of 257. Kieron Pollard, who had taken three wickets with the ball top scored with 31. The West Indian bowlers had done a good job early on as they struck regularly to keep a check on the Aussies. The top scorer for the hosts was Shane Watson with 59. He got the Man of the Match for that knock and also taking a wicket. Skipper Ricky Ponting was the next highest scorer in the match with 49.
