Opener Babar Azam scored 129 from 132 balls (with 14 fours and a six) to set up Pakistan’s 40-run win over West Indies at Palmerston North. Asked to bat first by West Indies, Pakistan put up 297 for 7. Apart from Babar Azam, Skipper Azeem Ghumman came good with 49 for Pakistan. Jomel Warrican picked up three wickets for Windies.

In their chase of 298, West Indies were bowled out for 257 after having a terrible collapse from an opening partnership of 120. Apart from the two openers Kraigg Brathwaite (92) and Trevon Griffith (84), none of the other batsmen got going. Babar Azam proved his all-round worth taking two wickets while Ahmed Shehzad got three.
