Hosts West Indies crushed minnows Ireland by 70 runs in the second match at the Providence Stadium which was played under the lights. Batting first after winning the toss, West Indies thanks to a crucial cameo of 30 from 17 balls from Darren Sammy posted a moderate total of 138 for 9. A 17-year-old left arm spinner by the name George Dockwell caused them plenty of jitters with his spell of 4-0-16-3.
The Irish innings which was seperated into two parts because of a rain break was always in tatters and it folded inside 17 overs for a paltry 68! Ravi Rampaul and Darren Sammy picked up three wickets each. Sammy apart from his batting and bowling also snatched four catches to get the Man of the Match award.
