Zimbabwe after picking up a shock win in the Twenty20 repeated the feat in the first ODI at the Providence Stadium to beat West Indies by 2 runs. Led by an industrious knock of 95 (from 162 balls with 5 fours and a six) from opener Vusumuzi Sibanda, Zimbabwe posted 254 for 5. There was a neat knock of 56 from 54 balls coming in from former Skipper Tatenda Taibu as well.

West Indies despite three half centuries – Chris Gayle (57), Adrian Barath (50) and a 70-ball 70 from Shivnarine Chanderpaul finished two runs short of the target.
