Chigumbura’s all-round show helps Zimbabwe win 1st ODI

Elton Chigumbura took three top order wickets and followed up with and unbeaten 60 from 50 balls to help Zimbabwe win the 1st ODI at Mirpur against Bangladesh by 5 wickets.

Zimbabwe put Bangladesh to bat first at the Shere Bangla National Stadium and bowled them inside the 50 overs for a modest total of 186. The top scorer for the homeside was wicket keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim who made 56. No.10 Dolar Mahmud came up with an entertaining 41 from 30 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Chigumbura had taken the first three wickets to fall and had Bangladesh reeling at 41 for 3 in 15 overs.

The visitors got their runs in 34.4 overs but had their share of problems with the bat after getting reduced to 90 for 5. Chigumbura came up with a match-winning unbeaten partnership of 99 with Matsikenyeri (47*). For Bangladesh, left arm spinner Abdur Razzak made some fight of the total by capturing three wickets.
