It was the excessive dew conditions that got the better of both the teams in the Group B Match of CLT20 2013 between the Chennai Super Kings and Lions on Sunday night (Scorecard). With the ball getting wet, the bowlers had tough time to hold onto their lines and lengths. There was hardly any lateral movement nor was there any assistance for the spinners. As a result, it was a high-scoring contest at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.

Titans went onto lose the match despite piling up 185 for 5 in 20 overs on the board. Terrific half centuries from Skipper Henry Davids (52 from 43 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) and AB de Villiers (77 from 36 balls with 3 fours and 7 sixes) went in vain for the South African domestic team.

Chennai Super Kings chased the target of 186 with utmost ease. Suresh Raina, who walked in at the early loss of Mural Vijay in the first over, went berserk straightaway. Raina lasted 28 balls in which he plundered 47 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes which was enough to get him the Man of the Match award.

At the other end to Raina in the match-winning 2nd wicket stand of 89 was Michael Hussey, who might have retired from International Cricket, but never looked rusty as he matched shot with shot with his partner. Hussey didn’t look that explosive but he scored his 47 in two balls lesser than Raina while striking 7 fours and a six.

The Raina and Hussey show made the chase easy for CSK but the finishing job wasn’t done. Dwayne Bravo completed it with a lovely knock of 38 from 26 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Chennai Super Kings, who got to the target with 7 balls to spare losing 6 wickets, were helped by the erratic bowling from the Titans which conceded as many as 24 wides!
