Chennai Super Kings won the second edition of the Champions League after defeating Warriors comprehensively in the Final at Johannesburg. It was a superb bowling performance led by off spinners R Ashwin (4-0-16-2) and Muralitharan (4-0-16-3) that restricted Warriors to a below average total of 128 for 7. Davey Jacobs was the top scorer for Warriors with 34 from 21 balls but his early dismissal proved too bad for Warriors.
CSK then got the low target with an over to spare based on the solid foundation given by openers – Murali Vijay (58 from 53 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes) and Michael Hussey (51* from 46 balls with 3 fours). MS Dhoni, the CSK Skipper fittingly finished the match with 17* from 12 balls.
Murali Vijay became the highest run scorer of the Tournament in the course of this knock to become the Golden Bat winner. He also got the Man of the Match while his team mate R Ashwin with most wickets in the tournament was given the Player of the Series award.
