Diamond Eagles defeated Somerset by 5 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. The defeat has ended Somerset’s lucky ride in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20. Both teams were in a must-win situation as they came into this round without any points.

Somerset batting first having won the toss could score just 132 for the loss of 8 wickets. The top scorer of the innings was Wes Durston with 57 from 32 balls (10 fours), it was a knock that gave something to bowl at for Somerset. Cornelius de Villiers was the pick of the bowlers for Eagles again, this time with his 4 for 17.

Eagles got to the target with 8 balls to spare. Wicket Keeper batsman Morne van Wyk led the way with a steady 47 from 41 balls. The target was chased down without much drama. The Man of the Match went to Cornelius de Villiers.
