Gautam Gambhir played a truly Captain’s knock batting out almost the entire innings to score 72 and guide Delhi Daredevils to a 5-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab.
The Daredevils needed 143 to win which was a pretty small total but were made to work hard especially after losing the three big players – Sehwag, Dilshan and AB de Villiers cheaply. Gambhir stood firm at his end compiling 72 from 54 balls (with 9 fours and a six) while putting on a match-winning stand of 61 with Mithun Manhas.
Earlier in the match, Kings XI Punjab lost too many wickets batting first and could come up with 142 for 9. Opener Ravi Bopara top scored with a 48-ball 56.
