Gautam GambhirGautam Gambhir is showing no signs of getting back to normal ever since he banged his head onto the ground while attempting to take a catch during the fourth Test at The Oval. The left handed opener is still suffering from the after effects of the impact which has affected his eye sight.

The concussion is still evident in Gambhir as he has been feeling dizzy and though he hasn’t played any of the three warm-up matches, there has been slow improvement in his head. Gambhir has been asked to return back home and take rest according to a statement from the Team Manager Shivlal Yadav. It has been a painful tour for Gambhir as he was first injured when he got smashed on the elbow fielding at shortleg in the opening Test at Lord’s which forced him to miss the next match.

India have not named any replacement for Gambhir yet and his absence leaves only one specialist opener in Sachin Tendulkar for the 5-ODI Series. The visitors are likely to play Parthiv Patel as the opener along with Tendulkar. In today’s Only T20I at Manchester, Rahul Dravid is expected to make his debut in this format and could open the innings with Parthiv.
