Jacques Kallis put on a high quality all-round show to take his team Royal Challengers Bangalore to the League Round. RCB beat a weak Otago Volts by a massive margin of 80 runs at an electrifying M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The RCB team infact replicated Delhi Daredevils in their must-win game, which was by piling up a huge score batting first and putting their rivals out of the contest totally.

Royal Challengers Bangalore smashed 188/2 on the board thanks to Kallis’ unbeaten 73 from 59 bals (4 fours and 2 sixes). Three others also chipped in with cameos – Robin Uthappa (42 from 31), Virat Kohli (32 from 19) and the sensational Ross Taylor who finished the innings in style with an ubeaten 32 from 11 balls which included 3 sixes!

Kallis despite batting through the entire innings found enough fuel to open the bowling. He bowled pretty fast short pitch stuff coupled with the off cutters and came up with three wickets at the start of the Otago innings. Those wickets included that of the dangerous opening combination of Brendon McCullum and Aaron Redmond. Otago Volts were eliminated from the Champions League after getting bowled out for 108 in 17.5 overs. Skipper Anil Kumble produced some vintage magic like Glenn McGrath did the other day for Delhi. Kumble got the ball to zip through the surface to send a couple of batsmen out lbw.
