Manoj Tiwary KolkataKolkata Knight Riders won their second match on the trot in this year’s IPL. This time they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore infront of a strong home crowd at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Batting first, RCB kept on losing wickets and could come up with a weak 135 for 7 banking on a patient knock of 65 not out (from 52 balls with 7 fours and a six) by opener Jacques Kallis. Angelo Mathews, hero of the IPL opening match came good with the ball taking 4 for 19 for KKR.

The Knight Riders made shortwork of the target initially through its openers – Manoj Tiwary and Brad Hodge but somehow dragged the match right till the fag end. Man of the Match Manoj Tiwary played one of his best knocks smashing 50 in 29 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes, one of them coming off the express pace of Steyn.

The Bengal cricketer had a turning point when he had twisted his ankle during a second run. After that injury, Tiwary decided that there will be no running at all and the result was some breathtaking strokeplay. Brad Hodge, the other opener played a mature knock of 50 from 45 balls. Anil Kumble bowled well for the RCB conceding only 19 off his 4 overs.
