Trinidad & Tobago, the only team that was 100% representing a nation in the Champions League was more than impressive in their victory against Somerset. Led by Darren Ganga, T&T eased to a 44-run win and has put Somerset on the brink of elimination. However, Somerset can go to the next round should the Deccan Chargers also go down to T&T.

The Caribbean side batted first having won the toss and put up 150/9 on the board. For the kind of batting they had, it was a moderate total, the problem with T&T was that their batsmen played too many adventurous shots which led to their downfall. At one stage, they were in trouble at 90 for 5 in 11 overs. Denesh Ramdin with a sensible knock of 39 from 39 got them to the respectable score.

Somerset in their chase were bogged down by the spin trio of Samuel Badree, Sherwin Campbell and Dave Mohammed. It was a dry wicket at Bangalore and the T&T spinners bowled smartly by not giving much room for Somerset. The English county side was choked to just 106. Zander de Bruyn was the top scorer with an unbeaten 43 from 39 balls but never looked threatening to win the game. Dwayne Bravo was the most succesful bowler taking 4 wickets but it was the spinners who should get the credit for the T&T win. Sherwin Ganga picked up the Man of the Match for scoring an unbeaten 18 from 8 balls and following it up with 2 for 16 in 3 overs.
