Shahid Afridi CanadaShahid Afridi destructed Canada with a superb 5 for 23 in 10 overs to bowl Pakistan to a face saving 46-run win in yesterday’s Group A Match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan faced the embarassment of getting bowled out for just 184 in 43 overs having won the toss and electing to bat first.

None of the Pakistani batsmen could get a half century because of some good bowling from the Canadians. Umar Akmal was the top scorer of the innings with 48 from 68 balls. Medium pacer Harvir Baidwan took 3 for 35 in 8 overs for Canada.

The run chase was never going well for Canada with the scoreboard hardly moving forward. They were bowled out for 138 in 42.5 overs with Jimmy Hansara top scoring with a 75-ball 43. Afridi was unplayable for the Canadians as they kept on getting hit on the pads by his skidding deliveries and he was the Man of the Match for rescuing Pakistan from what could have been an embarassing defeat against the minnows.
