Jacques Rudolph and Hashim Amla have struck centuries to take the South Africans to a commanding 351 for 3 at stumps on Day 1 of their three-day match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI. The Sri Lankan Board team led by Avishka Gunawardene had done a mistake in winning the toss and putting the tourists to bat first at the Colts Ground in Colombo. The Proteas were off to a bad start losing Boeta Dippenaar early and it took a decent partnership from Herschelle Gibbs and Jacques Rudolph to repair the damage. The pair put on 83 runs before Gibbs was dismissed by the left arm spinner Ranganna Herath. After that it was a big partnership of 242 that followed between Rudolph and Amla that put the South Africans in a great position. Rudolph fell in the 79th over after plundering the Lankans for 157 which had come off 213 balls with the help of 16 fours and a six. At stumps, Hashim Amla remained unbeaten on 128 which came in 241 balls with the help of 14 fours and a six. Nuwan Zoysa and Upul Chandana were the other two wicket takers for the homeside.
